We played 8static 5 in Philadelphia and we have some pictures and a live recording to share. It was a lot of fun and we thank Don a.k.a NO CARRIER for inviting us!
The song is called “Las Abejas” and it’s new. Soon we’ll release that song, along with other new ones, on an MP3-EP with 8bitpeoples. Stream/download: http://bit.ly/7wQs
Here a couple of links to pictures from that night: FLICKR 1, FLICKR 2
And this is us performing “Muchas Muchas Veces”.

Great news! PSST! 3 will have a screening in NYC on the 25th of March and Balún is going to perform in the event! We are going to be playing before the films (at 7:30 PM). The screening will be held at Galapagos Art Center in Brooklyn. This will another duo show, and we’ll be playing new material that we’ve been working on. Tickets are very limited so be sure to buy them before the show!

Angélica wrote the Global Ear: San Juan piece for the April 2009 issue of the magazine and the folks at The Wire put up a site with a bunch of MP3s of the bands mentioned in the article including Balún. Woohoo!
-

So we got another round of the “duo shows”. This time we’ll be playing at Lit Lounge in NYC (March 21) and 8static in Philadelphia (April 11) with our friend minusbaby. We are very excited as we have never been to Philly before. And as usual we’ll be playing new music. Here are the fliers for the shows:

Hi all we recently worked on an animated short film with graphic designer Tatiana Arocha for the collaborative film series PSST and the trailer of the project is out for everyone to check it out. We wrote the music for the piece, so it’s a new song!

Happy new year! Balún is back for a special 8-bit show as a duo!
Welcome to the new year; a new year of colors changing from white to yellow to green to blue to red to white again. While the animals sleep and sleep and sleep in their caves, and people try and try and try to stay warm in the cities, the Centennial Boy wanders about and about and about.
This January 31st 2009, join us in celebrating the Centennial Boy’s 100th birthday at Pulsewave at The Tank. Music will be provided by 6955, Balún, Low-Gain and OxygenStar with visuals by Jean Y. Kim, minusbaby, outpt, and Paris Treantafeles.
You have been most cordially invited, so please, drink to stay warm and feel free to dance and dance and dance!

December 28th, 2008Compilations, Downloads, News, RemixHappy holidays!
We have our song “Minumina” in the newest MP3-compilation by the Mexican label At At Records. This album includes other shoegazer/electronic bands from Spain and Latin America such as Fax, Silvania, Resplandor, and Antiguo Automata Mexicano. This production is dedicated to Cocó Cielo, member of shoegazer/ambient band Silvania and electro-pop band Cielo, who died tragically in Spain a few months ago.
The compilation can be downloaded for free here: http://www.atat-records.com/mem

And also, a few months ago we did a remix for Miou Miou, an indie pop band from the Czech Republic and the album is out! Other remixers include B. Fleischmann (Morr Music), Sawako (12k), Lullatone (Plop), and Montag (Carpark). For now the CD/MP3 can be bought at Sinko Digital but in a few months it will be available on iTunes and in Japan under the Rallye Label. Check out our remix in our Myspace player!
